Graduate Assistant Office of Partnerships and Placements

Full-time (20 hours per week)

Primary Purpose

To support the everyday functions of the Office of Partnerships and Placements in the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development by assisting with the coordination of students, cooperating teachers, and faculty members. Each year, this office coordinates approximately 150 student teaching placements and 600 practicum placements across 125 schools throughout Rhode Island.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Graduate Assistant will report to the Director of the Office of Partnerships and Placements for daily and/or weekly tasks. There will be a variety of tasks to complete which will include entering data into Excel, creating flyers and other communications on Canva, posting information to social media, and providing support with preparations for student teaching orientations and other meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Accepted graduate student enrolled full time in a plan of study.
  • Available to work 20 hours per week.

Desired

  • Ability to show initiative, work independently, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to be flexible by shifting from one task to another based on the needs of the office.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Google, and Canva.
  • Familiarity with a variety of social media platforms- Instagram and Facebook.
  • Interest in the field of education.
  • Strong skills in written and oral communication

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will be able to:

  • Develop networking skills with faculty and staff in the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development.
  • Acquire experience and knowledge about office operations and how these practices can be applied in various settings.
  • Enhance professional skills, including oral and written, and data analysis skills.
  • Gain knowledge about the field of education.

Preferred Availability

Monday through Friday during the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm is required. However, there is the opportunity for some hours to be completed remotely or during evening hours.
